If you’ve heard anything about mobile advertising, chances are that you’ve heard about VC Cafe’s new sponsor – AdMob. Serving over 2 billion targeted ads a month, AdMob is the largest mobile advertising marketplace in the web.
The methodology is simple: Through its advertising platform, AdMob brings together buyers and sellers of mobile ads. Publishers simply place some code into their mobile web pages, and AdMob serves pay-per-click advertising directly to their users. Signing up for Admob is free, and the publishers receive a 60% revenue share on the income generated from the ads.
Who are the advertisers? As a publisher – you get to choose who advertises on your site. You can potentially approve or decline any ad before it runs. In general, AdMob spends a great deal of time and effort finding high quality advertisers interested in reaching a qualified mobile audience.
