Boxee’s API Wants Your Apps, Coders

Boxee TV is possibly one of the coolest Israeli start ups out there right now. Based on open source software, Boxee is trying to beef up its offering by harnessing the power of the development community through free app building. The Boxee API is already accepting a variety of apps, but the company felt compelled to add some incentives.

Avner Ronen, Boxee’s CEO is inviting the developer community to write an app for the Boxee API. The prize: a Sony HDTV/Drobo.

The boxee dev challenge will have 3 categories: Video, Music and Photos. A People’s Choice award and a Judge’s Choice award will be available for each.

The deadline for submitting your application is June 14th at 11:59pm PT. Voting will take place between June 15th – June 22nd. The prizes will be given on June 23rd in a boxee event in San Francisco. RSVP at http://bit.ly/boxeedevchallenge-rsvp.
