Going Down? Q3 VC Investments in US Tech Drop 14%

The latest VentureDeal quarterly report is out (see pdf) and it suggests that VC activity in tech has slowed down in the third quarter. Overall, 343 US companies raised $1.8 billion in venture capital funding in Q3 2010, representing a 14% decline in total funding amount compared to the previous quarter. The Q3 2010 MoneyTree report for Israel was published yesterday with somewhat encouraging results: VC investments in Israel continue to grow and some $253 million were invested in VC-backed tech companies in the third quarter, representing a 23% increase compared to the previous quarter and a 42% compared to the same period last year which only saw $178 million invested.
