The IVC Research Center has released the results of its 2008 VC survey, to determine 2008’s most active venture capital funds in Israel. The ranking consisted of the number of first investments by the funds in 2008 based on the data reported directly by the funds as well as the IVC Online database.
Overall, Israeli VC funds made 119 First investments in technology companies in 2008, compared to 127 investments in 2007. There was a massive decline in the Dollar amounts invested in each of these First investments – 28% less than the previous year. In terms of sectors, IT & software attracted the largest number of First investments in 2008 (26 total), reflecting 22% of the total number of investments.
