One inbox, all of your social media accounts and social network messages at the same place. That is the promise of Multimi, a new software app for Windows that launched yesterday, July 19th. Multimi was developed by Israeli startup Zbang in collaboration with Antivirus company, AVG. In may of 2010, AVG made a strategic investment in Zbang and took 20% of equity.

Get tweets, posts, links, photos and videos from everyone (and everything) you like and follow in a single feed.

MultiMi aggregates messages from email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa, and file storage services. The sharing of files and links is ‘secured’ as AVG automatically scans the messages using through AVG LinkScanner, which checks links exchanged through social media in real time.

Zbang.it (site redirects to Multimi), was started in Israel in 2009 by Eidan Apelbaum, previously a director of product management at Yahoo! overseeing Mail, Groups, Yahoo messenger, etc. He currently serves as CEO. Zbang developed the social inbox product about a year ago, but as a standalone, it didn’t get much traction. Perhaps AVG’s 110 million users worldwide will give the product the boost it needs to go viral. I already get all my social media messages to gmail, but I could use with more organization and features around my social notifications.

Watch a video demo of Zbang’s social inbox:

Multimi will face competition from other players in the field like Threadsy, Inbox2 or MailSuite as well as the incumbents in mail. Another Israeli startup looking to innovate in mail and calendar is Any.do – looking forward to more innovation on this front!
