If you’re Madonna or Britney Spears, your decision to move to a new city may be a news scoop. In the start up world, if you’re funded by Sequoia you get the same celebrity effect. Sarah Lacy’s latest Techcrunch post reports on the move of Israeli start up Kenshoo, from Tel Aviv to San Francisco.
According to Lacy, Sequoia’s senior partner Michael Moritz has an emphatuation with Kenshoo and its co-founder and CEO, Yoav Izhar-Prato.
Kenshoo has created SaaS technology for creating, manging and optimizing contextual advertising campaigns, hence competing directly with Marin Software and DoubleClick (now =Google). Sequoia backed Kenshoo in two rounds (Dec 07 and April 08) in undisclosed amounts. According to Lacy, Kenshoo is currently managing a search advertising budget of $20 million in the US.
