More than 160 Israeli Companies Exhibit at Mobile World Congress 2013

his week, 70,000 attendees will descend on Barcelona for the annual mobile techie Fiesta known as the Mobile World Congress . Among the 1500 exhibitors, more than 10% are from Israel, the third largest contingent of any country at the show.

If Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Quora, LinkedIn and HackerNews weren't sufficient for sharing links and professional thoughts, there's now a new kid on the block. What it says on the tin: "Quibb lets you share what you're reading for work. Use Quibb to post newsworthy articles, see what colleagues are reading, and discuss the day's industry news". But isn't it a social network for professionals like LinkedIn? Not exactly.

Israeli Startup AfterDownload Sells to IronSource for $28M

Israeli startups are now aquiring each other. In 2010, I wrote about Israeli startup Afterdownload on VC Cafe, and was really impressed with what I saw. Today, Carmel Ventures shared the news that AfterDownload was sold to IronForge, its Israeli partner, for $28 million.

The New York Times Launches TimeSpace, Its Own Startup Incubator/Accelerator

The New York Times is launching a new startup accelerator, TimeSpace, a 4 month program taking in early stage media startups into the NYT Headquarters. TimeSpace will bring in three to five start-ups to connect with NY Times staff, demo their product, and teach/learn alongside entrepreneurs and employees who make their livings in digital media, technology and journalism.
