Event: The Israel/US Venture Summit 2008

Us/ Israel venture summitThe US/Israel Venture Summit 2008 is on again, meeting for its third installment. Organized by YoungStartup Ventures, the summit is a one day event on March 25th in New York city, featuring VC and entrepreneur panel discussions, live company presentations, interactive workshops and great networking opportunities.

To quote the organizers:

Whether you are an investor seeking access to new early stage deals, or a CEO or Founder of a new venture looking for funding, visibility and growth, the US/Israel Venture Summit is the event of the year you won’t want to miss.

This year, 40 Israeli companies will have 7 minute slots to present their investment opportunities to potential investors. For an average of $1200, you can apply to present on this page.

I’ve attended the first US/Israel Venture Summit in 2006 and despite the logistic challenges of a first timer, the conference provided great networking opportunities with Israeli startups across different industries and VCs investing in Israeli high tech. To give you a taste of the conference, below is a video from last year’s summit:

“Indecent Proposal” For Startup Founders

Would you accept an offer of $8000 to build an MVP for that idea you've been toying with and had no balls to act upon. It seems that while the cost of creating a startup has significantly declined, and the barriers to entry enable literally almost anyone to start a technology startup, there's no substitute for the passion, focus and attention of the founding team and it's unlikely to be artificially produced in a "Lab" environment or by simply providing a small amount of capital.
