Will Anobit be Apple’s R&D Center in Israel?

Apple is in talks to acquire Israeli flash maker Anobit for a rumored $400-$500 million, according to a report by Calcalist. This would be Apple’s first acquisition in Israel and if completed, Anobit and its 200 employees in Herzliya will become Apple’s R&D center in Israel.

Most Active VC Funds in Israel 2010

With six first investment deals Evergreen Venture Partners was the most active VC fund in Israel in 2010, according to the latest IVC Research Center report. The second place was shared by Battery Ventures Israel and Pontifax, with five investments each.

Battery Ventures Announces New $750 Million Fund

Amidst a 72% decline in funds raised by Israeli venture capital funds in 2009, Battery Ventures announced the completion of its new fund, BV-9, totaling $750 million. This is one of the largest funds raised in the first quarter of 2010 as VC funds struggle to raise money due to poor performance and low liquidity.

Battery Ventures Leads Pursway’s Series A

Israel-based Pursway (formerly known as Datanetis) announced its series A of $6 million led by Battery Ventures office in Israel. Pursway uses patent pending sentiment analysis technology on social networks, enabling clients to identify the influencers and followers for each of their products product within their customer database.
