Tech and VC Networking Events In London

Greater London

London is mostly known as the financial capital of Europe. Investment banks, Hedge funds and very wealthy individuals call this place home. Perhaps it’s just more than just that. Judging by the number of tech, media and venture capital events in London – the city’s entrepreneurs and tech community have similar energy to that of the valley.

So, take out your calendars, choose your poison and start registering to some of these great events.

global security challengeGlobal Security Challenge (GSC): On November 13,  Six security startups, who were chosen out of hundreds of entrants, will pitch their inventions in this event hosted by London Business School. A Judging Committee comprised of leaders from government, venture capital and industry will select the recipient of the $500,000 grant who will be named the most promising security startup in the world. An interview with Intuview the Israeli finalist to come.

tech spin ou 2008BVCA SpinOut Event 2008: If you want to meet London VCs, attending events by the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association are a good place to start. How to transform small companies into big companies.  Monday, 17 November in the Shaw Theatre at the Novotel St Pancras in London.

mashup* – Networking Evening -on the 23rd of October at the BT Centre, members of the mashup* community can network and see company demos free of charge. Charles Cohen and Mike Frayne are going to talk about thriving in the next few years by having the right media strategy. Other events coming up in November: Mashup* Money 2.0 and Mashup Demo.

Symbian Smartphone Show Oct 21-22, the conference ends today i’m afraid, but if you’re reading this now you can probably still make it to the closing cocktails. 3000 participants in speaker panels and  a mobile “dev fest”

London Open Coffee Meetup – Tomorrow, Oct 23rd, at least 30 London entrepreneurs will be meeting for some morning coffee schmoozing at UCL’s Rogers Building. The event is organized by Saul Klein, a partner at Index Ventures and the founder of Seedcamp which I mentioned before. Should be good.
